Hello there! 🤗
I am Criszarae A. Vargas, a fourth year student taking up Bachelor of Elementary Education ✨️ One of the SEA-Teacher Program (Batch 9) Participant that went to Surabaya, Indonesia 🇮🇩
There's a lot of things that I want to share to you that can make you smile, laugh and even cry 💛 Being there is something that I certainly would never forget, and if given the chance to go back, I would definitely go back 🌻
Sit back & Relax as I tour you to my amazing core memories in Surabaya, Indonesia 🎊
✨️Quick Overview✨️
The SEA-Teacher Project in Southeast Asia is a project offered for 4th year pre-service student teachers from BEED & BSED. This project gives an opportunity to pre-service student teachers to conduct their practicum within the Southeast Asian Countries. The participants of the project must conduct observation, assistantship and demonstration teaching within a one month time frame.
Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology was able to participate in the SEA-Teacher Project. They were able to send six (6) delegates to their partner school, which is the Universitas Negeri, Surabaya, located in Surabaya, Indonesia.

VISION
Based on the analysis of the context of SD Labschool UNESA for the 2022-2023 academic year, the following vision was formulated: "To create a generation of faith, civility, knowledge and achievement."
"Faithful, Civilized, Knowledgeable, Achiever"
MISSION
Based on the vision, the mission of SD Labschool Unesa is as follows:
1. SD Labschool Unesa has a mission to create a school culture that has morals, fosters local wisdom, is honest, creative, innovative, and dedicated to the achievement of Growing With Character,
2. SD Labschool Unesa produces graduates who are of high quality in their intellectual development and have the character of piety, honesty, creativity, are able to be role models, work hard, are tolerant and capable of leading, and have a global outlook, and can play a role in the development of science and technology based on IMTAQ.

SD LABSCHOOL 2
A classroom's various equipment, including tables and chairs for each student, a white board, a projector, and a speaker. Moreover, there are other spaces like the prayer room, media room, comfort room, band room, lab, and other rooms that are used to assist each student's growth. One thing that makes them unique is that there is a wheelchair ramp links each floor, demonstrating that the school is inclusive. Depending on their needs, the students may also receive additional classes. When I got the chance to teach one of those extra classes, I discovered that it was a mixed class, different types of students are there. I was able to handle classes from Grades 1 up to 6, each and every class is unique in their own special way, which makes them more interesting.

Teachers at SD Labschool follow similar procedures that are used in the Philippines before the lesson begins. They also have their prayer, attendance checking, motivational activity, and a lesson recapitulation. Lesson plans are also written using a contextual approach and are semi-detailed. In order to apply the lesson to real-world scenarios, they employ games, reporting, peer tutoring, and realia. They use two curriculums; International Curriculum and Indonesian Curriculum. Using technology integration, teachers at SD Labschool ensure that learning is engaging and interesting for their students. Activities such as quizzes are meant to fully immerse students in 21st century skills. Because they think technology should be a part of learning, it amazed me a lot because each student have their own chromebooks to use, and at a very young age, they are already thought using software applications like Canva, and etc.

Being in the SEA-Teachers Program in a month let me found my purpose in life. I was able to discover that I can be more than what I thought I can be. Being able to be diverse in terms on the country that I am in, the religion, language, nationality, culture and tradition is something that amazed me the most. This program gave me something that I will certainly bring within me once I am already a teacher. Learning not just from my school, but also from the university that we were sent, is something that I want to share to my family, friends, classmates and colleagues. Bicol State College of Applied Sciences & Technology and Universitas Negeri Surabaya indeed gave us something that can absolutely help us in our future endeavors -- may it be in terms of the teaching strategies, teaching pedagogy, teaching experiences and so on.
